AI interaction notices for chatbots

Article 50(1) places duties on providers of systems intended to interact directly with natural persons, subject to exceptions including when the AI nature is obvious in context. Information must be clear and distinguishable, and provided at the latest at first interaction under Article 50(5). Review your provider and deployer roles, then test the actual widget. A useful notice is “You are chatting with an AI assistant.” A footer alone may not establish timely notice.

Use technical observations as supporting evidence. Confirm legal applicability and exceptions independently.
