Open-weight models in public applications

An open-weight model is distinct from the AI system in which it is used. Do not assume an open-source licence removes transparency duties for a public application. Determine whether you are providing a system, deploying it or making changes that affect your role; assess the actual interaction and output use case.

Use technical observations as supporting evidence. Confirm legal applicability and exceptions independently.
